LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire – November 3, 2010) – The global “Cupcake Camp” phenomenon is finally coming to Los Angeles for a uniquely delicious charity fundraiser with a style befitting the showbiz capital of the world.
On Saturday, November 20th, Cupcake Camp L.A. will be held at the historic Music Box Theater in Hollywood (6126 Hollywood Blvd. at Gower) to give local cupcake lovers a chance to sample creations from the region’s best commercial and amateur bakers, several of whom are planning to debut unique holiday-themed and wedding cupcakes.
There will be two cupcake tasting sessions: one beginning at noon and ending at 2:00 pm, the other beginning at 3:00 pm and ending at 5:00 pm. General admission tickets are $15, and include five tasting coupons. Tickets for kids five and under are $5, and include three tasting coupons. Tickets may be purchased in-advance on Eventbrite at http://cupcakecampla.eventbrite.com.
Proceeds from Cupcake Camp L.A. will benefit nonprofit organizations including Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue (a nationally-recognized rescue that prevents equine abuse and saves retired racehorses from slaughter), InvisiblePeople.tv (which empowers homeless people to tell their stories and connect with support services via online social media) and American Tortoise Rescue (which provides sanctuary and advocates to protect turtles and tortoises all over the world).
Produced by Los Angeles-based BakeSpace.com, the family-oriented event will feature a special kids cupcake decorating section and even a college football viewing lounge next door (with special drink rates for Cupcake Camp attendees).
“Cupcake Camp events have been held in major cities across the globe, but never on such an ambitious scale,” said event Producer and BakeSpace.com Founder Babette Pepaj (@BakeSpace). “Cupcake lovers in Los Angeles have waited a long time to experience the Cupcake Camp phenomenon, and we plan to give them an event they’ll remember.”
In addition to celebrating cupcakes and raising funds for charity, Cupcake Camp L.A. will also mark BakeSpace.com’s fourth anniversary. The online community, which earned back-to-back Webby Award nominations for Best Social Network in 2009 and 2010, was launched in 2006 as the Web’s first food social network and recipe swap.
“Cupcakes evoke all that’s good about childhood, family and the occasional ‘sugar high,’” added Pepaj. We can’t wait to give our hometown a super-sweet celebration.”
